License Terms

All designs on falconembroidery.com are drawn and digitized by us or, on rare occasions, by our guest artists. We own all of our designs.

When you download or purchase a design, you are buying a lifetime licence to use it — not the copyright. The design remains the property of Falcon Embroidery. This page explains exactly what you can and cannot do. It applies to every design you purchase or download for free from us, unless a specific product page states otherwise. By downloading or purchasing any design, you agree to these License Terms.

What you CAN do

  • Stitch the design as many times as you like on your embroidery machine, for your own personal use and enjoyment.
  • Sell the finished, physically stitched items you make with our designs — on garments, towels, bags, décor, and similar — through your own small business, craft fairs, or personal and peer-to-peer online shops.
  • Use them on items you give as gifts or donate to charity or anyone in need.
  • Use the design across multiple embroidery machines that you own.
  • Edit or adjust a design to suit your project (see the note on edited designs below).
  • Keep a personal backup copy of the files you have purchased.

We simply ask that, where practical, you credit Falcon Embroidery as the source of the design.

What you CANNOT do

  • Do not sell, share, gift, trade, transfer, distribute, pass down as inheritance, or re-sell the design files in any format. The licence is for you; the files are not to be passed on.
  • Do not upload the files to file-sharing sites, cloud folders, forums, marketplaces, or social media for others to download.
  • Do not use our designs in any medium other than machine embroidery. For example, you may not use a design to: create a vector or cutting-machine file; make a tattoo template; form part of a company or screen-printing logo; or serve as a glass-etching template.
  • Do not use our designs on a “machine for hire” or anywhere else that would let others access the design files.
  • Do not use our designs for mass production or factory production for wholesale or mass retail sale.
  • Do not use our designs as a basis or template to create your own artwork or your own digitised files for sale.
  • Do not claim you are the author of the artwork in our designs, or register them as your own intellectual property.

If your friend, coworker, or family member wants one of our designs, please send them to falconembroidery.com to buy their own licence.

Edited designs

You’re welcome to edit a design to suit your project. However, Falcon Embroidery owns the copyright in the edited design file as well — an edited file cannot be shared, distributed, or sold, and remains subject to the same restrictions as our original designs.

Characters and third-party rights

When you buy a design, you are paying for our time and skill in digitising artwork into a file suitable for your embroidery machine. Any characters, trademarks, or copyrighted images referenced in a design belong to their respective owners; we do not claim ownership of them and they are not being sold. All designs are licensed to you on that basis.

Our photos, images, and tutorials

We own the copyright in the product photos, images, text, and tutorials on our Site. Please don’t reuse our photographs or copy for your own listings — take your own photos of items you make. Our tutorials and guides are for your personal use only; please don’t republish or redistribute them without our written permission. You may, of course, sell items you make by following our tutorials, within the licence above.

Free designs

Designs we give away free carry the same licence terms as paid designs: enjoy them, stitch them, sell what you make — but do not redistribute the files.

Extended / bulk / wholesale licensing

Planning wholesale, mass-retail, or factory-scale production, or want to include our designs in a product you distribute? We’re open to it — email [email protected] to discuss an extended licence.

Breach and termination

If we become aware of any use of our designs that breaches these License Terms, your licence terminates immediately, and you may be contacted by us or our legal representatives. Copyright in all designs remains with Falcon Embroidery or its licensors at all times.
